Event description

Description

Bear hugs are most commonly used to force a victim to the ground or move the victim from crime scene #1 to deadly crime scene #2. This week we'll be practicing escaping both front and rear bear hugs.

This is a one-hour class with a rotating curriculum, so you can start anytime. Every week we start with a brief education in a preventing a particular type of attack, then practice a set of defenses and/or escapes. No previous experience is needed.

Classes are held at Black Flag Jiu-Jitsu Club, a family-friendly hybrid grappling school. These classes are expressly NOT sport Jiu-Jitsu, are taught by women, and men other than the co-instructors are not permitted to attend. The curriculum for the women's self-defense classes addresses violence against women (the content is not appropriate for girls under age 12), and focuses on the most effective escape techniques for the most common attacks.

Classes are offered on a donation basis so that they are affordable for everyone. Classes are open to all women and girls 12 years and up with parental supervision.
