Event description

Description

Ignite teams up with the Women's Business Development Council, Southeastern CT Women's Network, and the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT for this very special evening of networking.

We will feature women entrepreneurs who are sure to inspire as they share the challenges and successes of their business journeys. Our co-hosts will share what they offer to support women in business. And to top it all off, Wines of Illyria, a women-owned business new to the area, will provide a wine tasting!

Featured Guests:

Wendy Davis, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, GestVision

GestVision, Inc. is developing a test to help diagnose preeclampsia. This pregnancy complication often presents as high blood pressure and protein in the urine. If the condition is not treated it can lead to seizures and even death. Preeclampsia is of concern in both developed and developing nations. Even in the US, preeclampsia is a growing problem. GestVision’s goal is to help doctors detect preeclampsia. With better detection, medical care and health outcomes for both mothers and babies can be improved.

Wendy has over 30 years experience in biotechnology cultivating novel opportunities from early stage inventions through commercialization and, where appropriate, FDA approval. Before GestVision, Wendy held positions at: HistoRx, Inc., a biotechnology company delivering diagnostic solutions to guide treatment decisions in oncology (acquired by Novartis); Curagen Corporation, University of South Florida and Moffitt Cancer Center; and Cytogen Corp. Wendy holds an MBA from Yale University and a BA from Swarthmore College.

Denise Nott, Owner, , CGR, CAPS, CGP, Nutmeg Building & Remodeling

Nutmeg Building & Remodeling, LLC is a Ledyard based remodeling, full-service company, offering services ranging anywhere from items on the “honey do” list to a whole house remodel. Moderated by Lisa Carberg

Lisa Carberg is a communications and public relations professional in Connecticut. Her career has spanned 20 years as a television news anchor and reporter both locally and nationally. Being on the news side of public relations “pitches,” Lisa understands what reporters are looking for to cover and promote. Lisa knows how to hone a message and brand to make it interesting, appealing and easy to understand.

This event will also feature the opening of STE[A]M, an art show featuring work from local artists inspired by science or scientists who create art. The show will be on display at the Innovation Commons through May.

Food sponsors to be announced soon. We'll keep adding more details as they are confirmed.

Start the New Year with a fun and inspiring evening of making great connections!
