Where and when does the March start?
The March starts at 11:00 a.m. at the intersection of Pulaski and Capitol streets on January 21, 2017. The organizers recommend getting to the event 15-20 minutes early so that you can find a place in the marching order. There will be some sign making material available at the start of the March. If you plan to make signs at the site, the organizers recommend arriving by 10:00 or 10:15 a.m.
I'm not a woman, am I invited?
Yes, the Women’s March is for any person, regardless of gender or gender identity, who believes women’s rights are human rights.
Is this march inclusive for women of color?
Yes, this has been an evolving effort to ensure representation through our organizers and speakers. The team of organizers and volunteers are committed to ensuring that the march reflects women and femme expressive people of all backgrounds.
Can I bring my own signs?
Yes! However, signs cannot be attached to sticks of any kind. This is a requirement from the Secretary of State’s office, and it will be enforced by volunteers and Capitol Police. Please keep sign messages as positive as possible. We are not marching against anything, but in support of progressive ideas and causes.
Where do I park?
Parking will be available on several streets around the event. The Victory Building has 1,000 parking spaces immediately adjacent to the march route. Parking in this lot cost $5.00. There are also lots across from the Arkansas Supreme Court building a block to the west of the Capitol building.
What if I am disabled?
Disabled participants who cannot march can be dropped off at the southeast corner of the front steps of the capitol,or at the southwest corner of the intersection of Capitol and Woodlane. There will be volunteers to assist them there. Disabled participants who will be marching should join us at the start of the march at the intersection of Capitol and Pulaski. There will also be volunteers there to assist if needed. Please keep in mind that there is a 15-25% incline on the march route.
Are restrooms available?
Yes, at the Capitol building. You must enter the building on the first floor and go through security. The doors are located behind the large staircase to the brass doors. If you are coming from out of town, we recommend a pre-arrival bathroom break.
Will there be security?
Security will be provided by off-duty police officers from the City of Little Rock, and by Capitol police.
What should we wear?
Purple! The national march and other state marches around the country have adopted this color. Dress per the weather, and if it is particularly cold that day dress in layers.
Purple has a history as a symbol of dignity and unity. It was one of a trio of colors chosen by the suffragists in both England and America. Suffragette Emmeline Pethick-Lawrence, editor of the weekly newspaper, Votes for Women, once wrote, "Purple as everyone knows is the royal colour, it stands for the royal blood that flows in the veins of every suffragette, the instinct of freedom and dignity." More recently, Hillary Clinton punctuated her black pantsuit with a purple satin shirt and lapels as she delivered her concession speech on November 9th - a symbol of unity, bipartisanship, and togetherness after such a divisive election season. On January 21st, we unite and stand in solidarity with not only the individuals at the Women's March on Washington, but with other satellite women's marches across the United States and the world – more than 140 marches are planned! To the Women's March on New Jersey, the color purple represents the blending of the blue states with the red states, showing that no matter what state we live in or which political party we belong to, we are all one America. No one person outweighs another, no one issue or value is more important than another - a cornerstone of our march. We are one America and not the color of our state or the color of our party. On January 21st, we are all purple. In the spirit of unity, we ask that you try to incorporate something purple in your march attire (hat, gloves, scarf, jackets and coats, socks, bracelet, necklace, shoes, nail polish, headband, earrings, etc.) if possible.
Does it cost anything to participate in the march?
No. You may have to pay for parking, depending on where you choose to park. You also can give donations to organizations participating in the march if you choose to do so.
What do we do if we encounter counter protesters?
Do NOT engage. Keep marching. Call 911 if necessary. We cannot repeat this enough. Do NOT engage. Keep marching. Call 911 if necessary.
How long will the march last? What about the Action Expo after the March?
10:00 a.m. sign in for volunteers begins at the intersection of Pulaski and Capitol

Immediately after the march: Singing and talks at the Capitol steps. Program will last about one hour.
During and after the program, visit organizations at tables set up on the capitol grounds to learn how you can get involved in your community, and make a real commitment to protecting our rights as Americans.
After the rally, please join us at the Action Expo at the Willie Hinton Community Center at 3805 W 12th St, Little Rock, AR 72204.The Action Expo will show you how to turn your support into strong action through short seminars, presentations, and tables from advocacy organizations.
If I brought items/donations for a certain group, how do I find them?
There will be a drop off point at the HQ ten at the start of the March. Please e-mail if you have more questions.
Where can I find out more information about the speakers?
There will be a document outlining the speakers and their accomplishments on the Event Facebook page, as well as available at the March Headquarters tent, set up near the intersection of Capitol and Pulaski streets.
Where can I find more info about the groups that will be set up on the sidewalks?
The March headquarters tent will have an information sheet regarding the groups, and you can also find it on the event Facebook page.
I use a walker/cane. Can I use it in the March? Yes
Are strollers allowed? Yes
Can I bring my pets?
For the safety for your pets and other participants, please leave your pets at home.
Do we need to sign in? If so, when and where?
You don’t have to sign in, but signing in helps us find out who you are so we can share information about future events. If you want to sign in, there are three ways to do it:

2.You can sign in using the QR code shared on our Facebook page, and on signs at the March Headquarters tent. To scan a QR code, you will need a QR reader app for a smartphone. Most readers are free.
3. If you do not have access to smartphone QR reader, you are welcome to sign in at the March Headquarters tent at the intersection of Capitol and Pulaski streets.
This information will not be sold or given away to anyone, and will be used only for official Be the Change Alliance events and educational information.
Who is organizing the Women’s March for Arkansas?
This event is a combined effort by Be the Change Alliance, individual Arkansas activists, and partnerships with several local organizations. Be the Change Alliance was formed quickly and spontaneously through social media following the 2016 Presidential Election. The organization is currently working on establishing 501c3 status. Members of Be the Change Alliance are all volunteers. Be the Change Alliance is working in cooperation with other groups who are organizing marches across the world on January 21, 2017, including the Women’s March on Washington.
What are you using the money you raise for?
Funds raised for the Women’s March for Arkansas are used primarily for the following: Permit costs; costs of securing off duty police for security, this is a permitting requirement; costs of renting a sound system for the speakers; insurance; printing of information signage for the day of the event; printing of badges for volunteers;
miscellaneous equipment rental/purchases.
Are the organizers sponsored by any political party or other organization?
We are a self-funded and directed group, but we do have a financial agreement with the Arkansas Coalition for Reproductive Justice to act as an a temporary fiduciary agent on our behalf until we gain 501c3 status. We also have partners for the event, including the Democratic Party of Arkansas and the Arkansas Public Policy Panel. We welcome anyone who cares about progressive issues to join us.
My group wants to sell items at the March. Can we?
No. SELLING OF ANY ITEMS AT THE MARCH IS EXPRESSLY PROHIBITED. If you or your group attempts to do this without authorization, you will be reported to the Capitol police and asked to leave the area.
