Schedule:
Marchers will begin descending on the starting location at 10 am. Organizations from all over Seattle will be there with information on how to volunteer and support their work. Marchers will be greeted by Peaceful Marchers and Connectors who will help them find the Organizations they want to march with. The Organizations will be organized around the perimeter of the starting location, with banners to identify them.
At 10:30 am, the program will begin. Program to be announced soon.
At 11:00 am, instructions will be given for starting the march. The first Organization will begin to leave the starting location, then the second, etc. until the entire March has left the starting location. Our vision for this march was inspired by the silent marches of the Civil Rights Movement. Marchers are encouraged to display signs with powerful slogans, quotes, and art, and to link arms as we move along the route.
At intervals along the route, soap-box Speakers will be located and will recite a poem, reach a speech, or share information about an organization.
Marchers are encouraged to chant and shout during the final couple blocks of the march, letting out all the energy, excitement, and passion that brought us together in the first place.
As we enter Seattle Center, there will be music to help lead Marchers on to their next call to action.
Accessibility:
The route will be accessible for those that are handicapped or special needs.
Marchers who are not interested in walking the entire route are also encouraged to join the march along marked entrance points and exit when needed.
