WOMEN’S DREAMS AND NIGHTMARES

PRESENTED BY: TANYA WILKINSON, PHD

What is special about women’s dreams? What is important about women’s nightmares? This presentation will use recent research and clinical examples to address these questions. Tanya Wilkinson will explore dream symbols and images that have been identified as central to many women’s dreaming life. The ways in which dreams have been shown, in psychotherapy and research, to process emotion address difficult memories and clarify relationship dynamics will also be touched upon.

Tanya Wilkinson, PhD maintains a private practice in psycho­therapy and consultation in San Francisco, CA. She has belonged to a women’s dream group for the last 20 years and has been teaching at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco since 1980. Tanya has published three books: Women’s Dreams and Nightmares (2018), Medea’s Folly: Women’s Relationships and the Search for Intimacy (1998), and Persephone Re- turns: Victims, Heroes, and the Journey from the Underworld (1996).
