Event description

Description

The Leadership Development Committee invites you to join the Junior League of Greensboro for our fourth Women-to-Watch event of the year. Our 2017-2018 theme is "Lead Local," which we hope will continue to inspire our members as well as generate interest from women in the community outside our League. Thank you to the UNCG Bryan School of Business for sponsoring this series for a second year in a row.

The event will be on Wednesday, January 24th, 2018 at UNCG's Bryan School. Refreshments will be served at 6:30 pm, and our speaker will begin at 7pm. Our speaker will be Dr. Christine Murray.

Christine Murray, Ph.D., LPC, LMFT, is an Associate Professor in the UNCG Department of Counseling and Educational Development. She is the Director of the Healthy Relationships Initiative (www.guilfordhri.org), which aims to promote happy, healthy, and safe relationships of all kinds in Guilford County. She is also the Co-Founder of See the Triumph (www.seethetriumph.org), which is a research-based social media campaign to end the stigma surrounding intimate partner violence and promote resources to support survivors.

Locally, she also serves as a member of the Executive Committee for the Guilford County Family Justice Center. As a foundation for all of her work, Dr. Murray is passionate about working to end intimate partner violence and other forms of abuse, support survivors, hold offenders accountable, and prevent future violence.

In recognition of the impact of her work related to promoting healthy relationships and supporting survivors of abuse, Dr. Murray has received awards that include the Chief's Award from the Greensboro Police Department, the Kitty Cole Human Rights Award from the American Counseling Association, and the Counselor of the Year Award from the Licensed Professional Counselors Association of North Carolina.

This event is free and open to all women of our community.
