Women Report from Abroad: Personal Stories of Foreign Aid Success

This program part of our monthlong commemoration of International Women's Day (March 8) and focuses on how US foreign aid helps improve the lives of women and girls in developing nations.

Rokeya KabirWe are joined by Oxfam America in presenting this program, which will feature an inspiring story from Rokeya Kabir, a frontline activist for women's rights and human rights in Bangladesh. In 2005, Rokeya was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize as part of the "1000 Women for Peace". She is the founder and executive director of the Bangladesh Nari Progati Sangha - one of the principal women's organizations in Bangladesh and has directly served, since 1986, about 100,000 women.

Marsha WallaceDining for Women founder and president Marsha Wallace will also be speaking at the event and focusing on our core mission of investing in women and girls in developing countries - how it pays off and the positive role that US Foreign Aid plays in those efforts.

Dining for Women

Dining for Women is a global dinner giving circle. We "dine in" together once a month, each bringing a dish to share, and send our "dining out" dollars to international programs empowering women.

Through our members’ combined dinner donations, we support grass-roots programs for women fostering good health, education, vocational training, micro-credit loans and economic development. By educating our members about the circumstances of women living in some of the poorest countries in the world, our members become agents of change, inspired to make a difference through the power of collective giving.
