About this event
Women on Wednesdays is creating a network of citizens that are ready, willing and able to advocate for reproductive justice.
The program is designed to facilitate a sustained advocacy presence at the Louisiana State Capitol throughout the Legislative Session. Through these events, advocates learn about proposed legislation, its potential impacts, and ways to influence the legislative process.
During the legislative session, we lead groups of advocates at the State Capitol through a program that includes:
- Training on the legislative process
- Discussions of various topics related to current legislation,
- Presentations by state legislators and government officials on policy priorities and the role of advocates in the process
- Direct conversations between advocates and their state legislators.
Each week we will focus on a different issue impacting the lives of women, gender-diverse people, and families in our state.
- April 12 - Black Maternal Health Advocacy Day
- April 19 - Student Day
- April 26 - Reproductive Freedom Day
- May 3 - Hands Off Our Bodies and Books Day
- May 10 - Economic Justice Day
- May 17 - Religious Freedom Day
- May 24 - TBA
- May 31 - TBA
We are aware that going to advocate in Baton Rouge requires a variety of privileges that aren't always available to everyone (e.g., the ability to take off work on a weekday, transportation, childcare, etc.), therefore we offer financial support to participants to address these barriers.
Lunch will be provided.
Women on Wednesday is sponsored by Lift Louisiana and 10,000 Women Louisiana
