Speaker Bios


Dr. Andrea RichDR. ANDREA RICH
Director, Mattel Corp.; Director, The Private Bank of California;
Director, Douglas Emmett, Inc.

Andrea Rich earned her B.A, M.A, and PhD from UCLA, where she graduated summa cum laude and was elected into Phi Beta Kappa. As a member of the UCLA faculty, she was awarded the Distinguished Teaching Award. After holding many academic and administrative positions at UCLA, she was appointed Executive Vice Chancellor and Chief Operating Officer of the campus.

After 34 years at UCLA, Dr. Rich left the university to serve for a decade as the President, Chief Executive Officer and Director of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and retired in 2005.

Dr. Rich has received many honors and awards throughout her career including the Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Artes et Lettres from the French government, the R.O.S.E. Award from the University of Southern California’ School of Education, and was named a UCLA Honorary Fellow of the College of Letters and Science. She also received the highest honor the University bestows, the UCLA Medal of Honor.

Dr. Rich has been active in the not-for-profit sector and now serves as a trustee of the Jules Stein eye Institute, Claremont McKenna College, La Plaza de Arte y Cultura, and Save the Children.

She also serves in the for-profit sector as a member of the board of the Mattel Corporation, The Private Bank of California, and the Douglas Emmett Real Estate Investment Trust, where she serves as Chairperson for the Nominating and Governance Committee.

PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP

Mary Ann Cloyd is the PricewaterhouseCoopers ("PwC") Tax Market Leader for the Southern California, Phoenix and Las Vegas practices. Ms. Cloyd has over 34 years of tax and business consulting experience serving multinational corporate clients in a variety of industries. She currently serves on PwC's U.S. Board of Partners and Principals and the PwC's Global Board of Partners. She is chair of the Risk Management & Compliance Committee, and a member of the Management Evaluation and Compensation and Strategy Committee. She has previously served as the chair on the Partner Admissions Committee.

Active in professional and community organizations, Ms. Cloyd is a member of the United Way of Southern Los Angeles Women Leaders' Steering Committee and President of the PricewaterhouseCoopers Charitable Foundation. She also serves on the UCLA Iris Cantor Women's Center Advisory Board and the Board of Directors for the Geffen Playhouse. She just completed her second term on the Baylor Business School Advisory Board.

Ms. Cloyd graduated Summa Cum Laude from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Business Administration.

Ms. Nahas specializes in recruiting Presidents, CEOs and board members for clients ranging from multinationals to start-ups across a wide variety of industries. Her experience also includes leading CEO assignments for leading not-for-profit organizations, working closely with Search Committees to attract top talent to their institutions. She is recognized among the top 100 recruiters in the United States, according to The Career Makers.

Ms. Nahas serves on the Board of Directors of DineEquity, Inc. (NYSE:DIN) and Whittier Holdings, a privately held asset management firm.

Active in many civic groups, Ms. Nahas is the corporate board chair for United Way of Greater Los Angeles. She also serves on the Board of Visitors and Executive Committee for the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA.

She is a member of the Trusteeship and the International Women’s Forum, a worldwide network of preeminent women. She is a frequent speaker, media spokesperson and author on executive management issues and board development.

In 2004, she was recognized nationally by her peers, receiving the Association of Executive Search Consultants, Eleanor H. Raynolds Award, based on a career of excellence in executive search, as well as an ongoing dedication to volunteerism and improving the community. She has also received other honors, among them the Angeles Girl Scout Council’s Grace Award, YWCA of Los Angeles’ Silver Achievement Award and the UCLA Medical Center’s Aesculapius Service Award.

Ms. Nahas received a bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Los Angeles.
