Women Leading in the Public Service

I am pleased to announce our first speaker of the season, Thursday, October 13th, will be Brenda Eaton, former Deputy Minister to Premier Gordon Campbell, as she shares with us her insight, experience and advice. Her topic, "Challenging Conversations: How to conduct successful briefings with senior leaders" is sure to provide many of us with new ideas and tools to use in our day-to-day lives.
Brenda Eaton is an experienced corporate director, having served for more than ten years on a number of private, public, not-for-profit and crown corporation Boards. She is currently on the Boards of Translink, BC Safety Authority, Transelec (energy company in Chile), FortisBC and the Project Board charged with constructing Victoria’s new sewage treatment facility. For seven years Brenda was Chair of BC Housing, and of the Dalai Lama Center for Peace and Education.
Prior to becoming a corporate director Brenda, from 2001-2005, Brenda was Deputy Minister to Premier Gordon Campbell and before that, was for several years CFO of the Capital Health Region (precursor to Vancouver Island Health).
For the decade prior to joining the CHR, Ms. Eaton served in a variety of senior management positions in the Government of British Columbia, including Deputy Minister of Finance and Treasury Board; Social Services; and Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources. Prior to these roles, Ms. Eaton worked in International Business (responsible for trade negotiations and overseas trade) and for the Provincial Treasury (managing a diversified investment portfolio of $30 billion, a global debt financing program, provincewide banking, insurance and loan
Brenda has a Master’s Degree in Economics and is the recipient of several recognition awards.
She is an avid reader and adventure traveller. Brenda values the time she spent in the public service, including the many diverse career opportunities it offers, as well as the many challenges that incorporate life lessons and
character building moments!
Tickets cost $15 each, and the cost will include a beverage of your choice, along with some appetizers. Dinner is also available should you wish to order that separately.
