Join The Gwen Hotel in celebrating Women's History Month!

About this Event

In celebration of Women’s History Month, The Gwen Hotel presents an evening learning from and being inspired by some of Chicago’s most prominent women in the health and wellness industry. Our panelists will cover important, of-the-moment topics such as work-life balance, stress management and entering motherhood while continuing to be lady bosses. Our panelists include Jeana Anderson-Cohen, Erin Bahadur, Lindsey Kaalberg, Briana Bragg, and Sarah Russo.

The panel discussion will begin at 6:15pm in the Gallery Room on the 6th floor. From 7-7:30pm, there will be a question-and-answer session with the panelists. Light bites and refreshments will be provided.

In addition to wisdom from these incredible women, guests will also receive a gift bag courtesy of Athleta, featuring a healthy snack from Hungry By Nature.

Read more about our panelists here:

Jeana Anderson-Cohen is the CEO and founder of aSweatLife.com, a destination for living your best life, with fitness as the catalyst. She’s also the co-founder and head of strategy of the SweatWorking App. But before starting health-focused companies Jeana earned a degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. For the first decade of her career, she created and executed social media strategies for brands. aSweatLife fuses her experience and her passion for wellness and SweatWorking was the natural evolution of that experience. You can find Jeana leading the team at aSweatLife, hosting aSweatLife’s monthly #Sweatworking events, and – on the rare evening off – you may find her using her Personal Training certification to coach group fitness classes across Chicago.

The path of Erin Bahadur, founder of Erin’s Inside Job, isn’t easy to sum up in a short paragraph. A recovering addict, personal trainer and lover of food, Erin starting blogging as an outlet to help her get outside of herself. She wanted to be able to take the improvements that she was making on herself (the inside) and share them with others (the outside). She believes true wellness comes from working to improve the inside (emotionally, physical and spiritually). Her insights into her struggles, including using exercise and food as drugs when she stopped putting as much effort into her recovery, offers a very candid and enlightening example to those facing struggles of their own. Her openness to talk about some very personal issues has earned her a loyal and large fan base.

Lindsey Kaalberg, CEO and founder of Ritual Hot Yoga. Lindsey loves to dig in, until she gets to the bottom of things, especially when it comes to her soul or a bottle of cabernet. Off the mat, Lindsey lives her yoga. That is not to say her life is “calm and relaxing” by any means, but she is not afraid to leverage her hot yoga classes to get through the wildest situations. In her hot yoga classes, she holds an open and safe space that fosters vulnerability and exploration. Through her love of R&B and hip hop, class feel soulful and fresh. Her sequencing is creative, and the intricacies continue to flow as Lindsey weaves in philosophy and her views on how to practice yoga in a way that works in each participant’s life.

Briana Bragg, CEO and founder of Vacation of the Mind: Author, speaker, social media expert, mindfulness coach, and meditation industry leader. Briana founded Business Bragger, a digital marketing company specializing in social media, while she was still in school finishing her marketing degree. Her digital savvy quickly attracted clients, from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies. Like many high-achievers, though, Briana’s habits did not always support her lifestyle. In 2013, the frenetic pace of working without rest started to take a real toll; facing total burn-out, she started searching for holistic ways to unplug and refocus. She began practicing meditation, and the powerful positive results transformed her life. Looking around, Briana saw other entrepreneurs and business professionals burning out. She devoted herself to developing the proper techniques, tools and training to empower individuals to utilize meditation to achieve greater success in all areas of their lives. Working with her team of trained, talented, and dedicated instructors, she’s exponentially increased her impact and her ability to change lives with the powerful Vacation of the Mind programs.

Sarah Russo is a Holistic Certified Chef from Chicago, Ill., and founder of ITSAPOP healthy popsicles. As a former vegan, Sarah’s cooking style is firmly rooted in plant-based cuisine. Her background is in therapeutic and healing foods that are functional and delicious. Her favorite cuisine is farm-to-table: seasonal, plentiful, and relatable. Sarah added animal protein back into her diet in 2015, as she discovered mindful ways to source the "good stuff" in the Chicago area. For the past 5 years, Sarah has been working as a personal chef, recipe developer, speaker, educator, blog contributor, and for the past two years she has been the resident culinary manager for Pre Brands. Sarah is also the founder of organic ice pop company, ITSAPOP.
