Description

Salesforce's WIT (Women In Technology) invites you to join our WIT meet-up at our Salesforce office in Burlington, MA.

Come meet and hang out with fellow technologists over dinner and learn something new through our awesome line up of speakers for the evening.

Topic#1: Implicit Bias: A Mindful Discussion on Unintentional Bias

  • Implicit Bias studies became reality in the 1980’s and have been the focus of research which reveals the subtlety and nuance of unconscious bias and how it shapes our workplaces, lives and careers. This talk will give a basic overview of what it is, how it presents and how we can be more mindful in changing the habits of our own bias which can manifest in early childhood and continue to shape our world as adults.

  • Speaker: Kathleen Dooley, Sr Change Manager at Salesforce (Linked in profile)

Topic#2: The Stories We Tell Ourselves

  • Telling ourselves stories is how we make sense of the world — we all do it, all the time. These stories drive our reactions and experiences—positively, negatively or even neutrally. In this talk we will explore why we do this? And how to catch it and reframe the script, if need be.

  • Speaker: Divya Kinni, Performance Engineer at Salesforce (Linked in Profile)

Topic#3: How to Navigate and Grow Your Career

  • Few people ascend to leadership positions by accident, and achieving one's goals isn't something that just happens. Navigating your career takes more than a little ambition and good old-fashioned hard work – you have to know who you are and what you want, and you need to develop a clear roadmap for getting it.

  • Panelists: Mia Stern, Sr Manager of Software Engineering at Salesforce (Linked in Profile), Marcus Groff, Sr Director of Software Engineering at Salesforce (Linked in Profile), Christa Matukaitis, Sr Director, Customer Success (Linked in Profile), Chris Dawn, Independent consultant and technologist

Space is limited. Dinner starts at 5:30 pm & Speakers start at 6:30 pm.

Speaker Bios:

Kathleen Dooley started as Sr Change Manager for Salesforce in April of 2018 to support the successful onboarding of Change Management at Commerce Cloud at the Burlington Hub. She began her early career in Science working in Infectious Disease in a bio-level 3 lab and later doing computational analysis for the Human Genome Project. She transitioned into Infra IT soon after, working at the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT in the innovation hub of Kendall Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts. After running multiple successful security projects and setting up a Data Governance platform for the Broad Institute, KD started attending to Boston University to earn an MS in Data Information Systems with a concentration in Security. She lives in the Boston area with her husband Darth Vader and dog Charley. When she is not piloting her boat she is busy planning on how to spend more time with her identical twin boys Max and Zack who live in St Petersburg Russia and New Orleans LA.

Divya Kinni began her career after graduating from Northeastern University with a Master’s Degree in Computer Science, at Virtual Instruments, a startup in California. She has also had the opportunity to work with Nike in Oregon as a Software Engineer before joining Salesforce in January, 2017. At salesforce, she joined as a Software Developer in Test Engineer and transitioned into a Hybrid Engineer working on the searchandizing team before moving into her current Performance Engineer role, early this year

Christa Matukaitis first began her career in the world of web site development back in 1996 at a Science Publishing house in Cambridge, MA where she worked to develop a web site for the scientist subscribers to log in and receive research at a faster pace than waiting for the printed journal, as well as incorporating Digital Advertising as a revenue stream for the publications. It felt revolutionary back then...The primary part of Christa's career was spent developing www.llbean.com, one of the first IBM Websphere sites. She spent 13 years with the company beginning as a programmer evolving to Leading the Web Development team as part of the eCommerce Division. After a few years working to develop The Black Dog Brand across several B2C spaces she moved to Demandware in 2013 as an eCommerce Strategist. Today Christa is a CSG Product Senior Director working closely with both customers and internal teams to drive enablement and adoption of key Salesforce Commerce and Cross Cloud products.

Chris Dwan is an independent consultant and technologist. He has been helping to build large scale computing and data systems for genomics for nearly two decades. He tweets frequently at @fdmts and blogs occasionally at https://dwan.org.
