Barbara Boxer (BELLE Capital USA Fund)
Ms. Boxer is a Managing Director of the Fund, one of the Managers of the General Partner and serves as LeBe Inc.'s chief executive officer. Ms. Boxer has more than 20 years experience in advising and investing in early stage companies. Ms. Boxer has served as vice chairman of the Investment Committee for BELLE Capital, LP. She is also the Founder and Managing Member of Women Angels, LLC, an investment group with more than 100 women investors in Miami FL, Milwaukee WI, Chicago IL, and Washington, DC. Women Angels, LLC is comprised of qualified women investors who only invest in women owned businesses. Women Angels has invested over $5 million in five women owned businesses since 2007, co-investing with a number of women-focused funds including Phenomenelle Angels Fund and BELLE Capital. Ms. Boxer is phasing out of Women Angels and inviting its members to become limited partners in the Fund.
Hildy Shandell (COO - Numecent - $14 Million Funded last year)
Hildy Shandell has over two decades of success working with private and public technology companies in a multitude of operating, strategic, transactional and investing roles. She has worked with Numecent as our Chief Operating Officer since November of 2010.
Previously, Hildy was a Venture Partner with Opus Capital, a $1 billion early stage venture capital fund, where she sourced and evaluated investment opportunities in multiple enterprise and consumer markets. She has also advised start-ups on business and go-to-market strategy, potential strategic alliances and financial/operational infrastructure.
Previously, Hildy was Senior Vice President of Corporate Development at Genesis Microchip, where she was instrumental in the sale of the company to STMicroelectronics at a 65% premium to market, the largest industry premium in recent years. While at Genesis, she accelerated new product launches through a technology licensing program and designed an acquisition strategy to strengthen the company's portfolio of differentiated technology. Prior to Genesis, Ms. Shandell was Vice President of Corporate Development at Broadcom. In that role, she completed close to $300 million of acquisitions which achieved 80% of the targeted sources of value and 95% retention of key talent.
Before joining Broadcom, Hildy was Chief Operating Officer of 3Dlabs, having been promoted from CFO, to lead global operations. Prior roles included Managing Director of the Renaissance Fund, a $150 million private equity fund, and partner at two major international law firms.
Kim Kovacs (Former CEO, Company was Acquired 2013)
Ms. Kimberly Kovacs is the co-founder and CEO of OptionEase, the leading network connector for complex equity compliance applications delivered on-demand via software-as-a-service (SaaS). OptionEase has more than 700 clients ranging from emerging venture-backed private entities to Fortune 100 organizations with over 100,000 equity plan participants.
Ms. Kovacs has a distinguished career in executive leadership and finance. She was on the board of Alpha Project in the 1990′s, securing over $50M in funding from HUD to preserve low income housing. At ORXYE Energy, as CFO and board member, she testified in Congress in concert with the EPA on clean energy regulations, assisted in bringing major oil companies into regulatory discussions and resolution that ultimately resulted in Ms. Hillary Clinton’s involvement and final adoption of the Clean Energy standards in the U.S.
In addition to her board seat for the National Coalition of Stock Planning Professionals (ACSPA) where she serves as Treasurer. Ms. Kovacs is currently on the board of the National Center for Employee Ownership (NCEO), in addition to being active in industry organizations such as FEI, FENG, and others. Ms. Kovacs is an active member of the Women Presidents Organization (WPO) and the Association of Women in Technology (AWT).
Recently, she launched an OptionEase-sponsored scholarship with the Certified Equity Professional Institute (CEPI) to promote the advancement of equity administration and compliance. The annual scholarship pays for an individual to receive full CEP certification. Ms. Kovacs also supports youth music programs, historical site preservation and green technology initiatives to name just a few.
