Event description

Salesforce's WIT (Women In Technology) invites you to join our first 2019 WIT meet-up at our Salesforce office in Burlington, MA.

Come meet and hang out with fellow technologists over dinner and learn something new through our awesome line up of speakers for the evening.

Topic#1: The Trust-Communication Trade-Off

  • Learn about how organizations can actively manage the relationship between trust and communication to lower coordination costs and build happier, more effective teams.

  • Speaker: Emily Levada, Director, Product Management at Wayfair (Linked in profile)

Topic#2: CCPS's journey to Kubernetes and Serverless Deployments

  • Building and deploying serverless and containerized applications introduces new challenges for developers whose development workflows are optimized for traditional applications. In this session, we will discuss a method for implementing CI/CD for heterogenous environments that incorporate both serverless applications running on AWS Lambda and containerized applications running on EKS. We cover infrastructure-as-code (IaC) application models, such as AWS Serverless Application Model (AWS SAM) and new declarative IaC tools using CloudFormation.

  • Speaker: Christian Bayer, Lead Software Engineer at Salesforce (Linked in Profile) and Sanyogita Randade, Software Engineer at Salesforce (Linked in Profile)

Topic #3: Making the Transition to Workplace after Significant Time Away

  • Returning to the workforce is more than just landing the job (or hiring the returner). In this talk we will explore transitioning into this new phase, possible obstacles, and what can managers/employers do to help facilitate success.

  • Speaker: Heather Kane, Software Engineer at Wayfair (Linked in profile)

Space is limited. Dinner starts at 5:30 pm & Speakers start at 6:30 pm.
