Event description

Description

Have you been called ‘emotional’, ‘assertive’, ‘aggressive’, ‘passionate’ or told to calm down --- fill in the blank?

You are smart. Good at what you do. Confident in your abilities, and a valued part of the team. The thing is, you’ve noticed a few behaviours that sometimes have you question your effectiveness. Some of your colleagues have spoken over you in meetings, your opinion has been restated by a male colleague and then embraced, you’re getting performance feedback that you need to change your tone. Or maybe you have got your eyes on the next steps in your career, but you feel yourself holding back in your contributions because you don’t want to be considered a bitch for being outspoken or confident.

How do you walk the fine line of being who you are - female, possibly feminine - in environments that favour masculine, dominant, assertive or even aggressive styles and tactics?

In this workshop, we will be exploring how to deal with being talked over, not feeling heard and how to stand up for yourself (and potentially others) in a way that keeps your integrity and authenticity intact.

We want to challenge and empower you to walk away with:

  • Knowing how to use your values to shape your identity at work
  • Defining who and what you need to keep aligned with your identity
  • Key tactics to use your voice and be heard!

The more we talk with women in the community, the more we hear about and a burning desire to redefine success. Our big why is to support you in stepping into your strength as you let go of the things that are holding you back. Come join us!

MORE ABOUT OUR COACHING SERIES

This is an extension of the Girl Geeks Toronto presentation given by Mic Berman and Tara Rhodes, gd | Grossman Dorland, on Tuesday, November 4, 2017. There wasn't enough time to dive deep into the topic, so we wanted to offer you an opportunity to join a small group of us for a more hands on version of the talk.
