As winter turns to spring, it’s a great time to start your garden! Join us for our Seed Starter Workshop on February 23 from 5:30pm - 8:00pm at Modern Nomad with expert gardener Katrina Karczewski with Grateful Garden LLC. Katrina will walk us through the steps to starting a successful garden while the winter months are still upon us. She will provide tips on how to properly start your garden indoors followed by a Q&A session to help with all of your pre-season garden jitters! We’ll provide containers and dirt and have some starter seeds available. BYOS - We encourage attendees to bring their choice of seeds too so that we can all share and swap! Pick up some packets of tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, oh my! Just be cautious when buying seeds and be sure they are good for CO weather and no Burpees please! Look for words like “heirloom” and “open pollinated". Even better - did you save YOUR seeds from your garden this year? Bring those to share! Katrina will also help you think of your bigger garden picture from starters to planting, to harvesting and finally seed saving at the end of the summer. We will also have some light appetizers along with wine, beer and non-alcoholic refreshments.

In addition, bring your empty bottles and containers so you can pop over to Homefill and fill up on all your zero waste needs!

Are you ready to become a Confident, Grateful gardener? Then this workshop is for you! We will see(d) you there!

About the Presenter:

Katrina, the founder of Grateful Garden LLC lives in Denver, Colorado. She has been a gardener in the suburbs of Denver since 2011. She did not want owning a small yard in suburbia to stop her dreams of growing her own food. Instead, she made it her mission since becoming a homeowner to garden with intention. This allowed her to get closer to her food, the climate and community she is living in. Gardening off and on her entire life, she began in NJ at 4 on her pop pop’s farm. In 2016, Katrina started a hobby, saving and selling seeds. She found that people were more interested in learning how to save seeds or grow them, than the seeds themselves. It took her a few years before deciding to turn her love for all things growing food in raised beds into a service business. She want to guide her clients through the process to shave years off of their learning and growing curve. Let learning from her growth and setbacks be your success story. She is grateful that she can create a place that community can come for a gardening head-start that she wish she had in her life. The phrase “If I knew then what I know now…” often comes to mind for Katrina. As your garden consultant, designer and installer, Katrina is determined to have you comfortable saying “I'm a gardener.”
