Women in Solar PV Essentials
This September 18th - 22nd, the GRID Alternatives Bay Area office is offering a week of hands-on training for up to 10 women/femmes, who are seeking employment in the solar industry.
The Women in Solar PV Essentials training integrates solar industry career education, community engagement and industry networking. Participants will leave the course with clear opportunities for continued training, skills certificates and understanding of pathways to employment in the industry.
Program includes:
- Two dedicated days of in-the-field solar PV installation under the guidance of GRID lead installers
- Ability to gain up to 3 Solar PV Skills Certificates of completion
- Introduction to solar industry and technology, including solar career pathways and opportunities
- Solar soft skills and "How to pitch yourself" in the industry workshops
- Private job fair and networking interviews with companies who are hiring for installation and other positions in the solar industry and related fields.
- Opportunities for future individual engagement with GRID’s training programs, including internships, additional installations, and connections to industry employers and job listings
Transportation & Parking
Parking: You can park in our warehouse lot or on the street on Ocean Ave or Marshall Ave.
Public Transportation: The closest BART is MacArthur. From MacArthur you can take the Emery-Go-Round (free shuttle) to Hollis and 64th. You can also take the 57 Bus towards 40th St, get off at 40th and San Pablo Ave, and take the 72 Bus towards Hilltop Mall and get off at Alcatraz and San Pablo Ave. The closest BART (walking distance) is Ashby.
