Event description

Description

Wikipedia is a wonderful resource, but it has its biases: women are underrepresented, as are New Zealand topics. But anyone can edit Wikipedia, so we can fix that.

In this free one-day workshop, you'll learn how to edit pages, correct mistakes, add references, and upload photos. Absolute beginners are welcome; training and troubleshooting is provided.

In the morning there will be Wikipedia training; the afternoon will be devoted to editing. Lunch and childcare are provided, and there’s free wifi in the Royal Society Te Apārangi workspace. Participants should bring their own laptop and charger, and books or references on any specific women they're interested in working on (we'll also have a list of possible articles to improve).

For everything you need to know, see this workshop’s project page on Wikipedia. When you register, we'll keep you posted on what you can do to prepare, including making your own Wikipedia account.
