"I would work if I could."
Would Works provides a work opportunity for people who are homeless or living in poverty. Started in Los Angeles in 2012, Would Works creates and sells wood products that are hand-crafted by individuals who have an immediate financial need and are working towards a goal.
People living in poverty are often preoccupied with the task of fulfilling simple needs that many of us take for granted. Their goal could be a new pair of eyeglasses or dentures, a bus ticket home or money toward a first month’s rent. We provide a way for these men and women to finance their goals while gaining work experience, learning concrete skills and receiving a recent job reference. Watch their video here.
The focus of WIC Week is to highlight the many contributions of women in the construction industry. NAWIC’s thousands of members across the country celebrate WIC Week to raise awareness of the opportunities available for women in the construction industry and to emphasize the growing role of women in the industry.
