Event description
Explore the lives of Shirley Chisholm and other Brooklyn women, told through archival material, as you gain valuable classroom inspiration.

About this Event

Join Brooklyn Connections and The Shirley Chisholm Project at the Brooklyn College Archives as we kick off women’s history month with a day learning about women who have shaped Brooklyn history. Dr. Barbara Winslow, Founder and Project Director Emeritus, will speak about The Shirley Chisholm Project and Chisholm’s lasting legacy. Archivist Colleen Bradley-Sanders from the Brooklyn College Archive will guide participants through items from the archival collection documenting Ms. Chisholm’s political and activist career, allowing participants to explore items of interest to them. The Brooklyn Connections team will wrap up the day with a series of activities that you can turnkey in your classroom, to teach students about the impact of Shirley Chisholm and other important women in Brooklyn’s history.
