Jennifer Lewis from Harrison Design will be presenting at this months meeting.
Jennifer recently moved to Santa Barbara after nearly a decade of experience in civic, cultural, and religious projects in Atlanta. She is passionate about the responsibility we have as architects in shaping the built environment and encourages advocacy for beautiful, accessible, and enduring buildings.
She began her career at Houser Walker Architecture, a boutique firm in Atlanta that strives to connect people through ecological designs to nature, history, and each other. She took a brief hiatus from the drafting desk and served as Director of Communications for one of the largest Cathedral parishes in the United States. In this role, she had the opportunity to experience the owner side of design and construction for a complex $30 million, five-phase, school and parish project.
In the summer of 2021, Jennifer joined Harrison Design in Santa Barbara. In addition to learning the unique intricacies of local planning and permitting, she has been studying the principles of classical and traditional design through the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art. Outside of the office, she has been involved with the AIA, Architectural Foundation of Santa Barbara's walking tours, and the Santa Barbara Newcomers Club.
In sharing her experience, she hopes to shed light on the opportunity we have as architects to take our career in new directions.
