Women & Girls Self Defense
Parks’ Martial Arts Academy and Reclaiming Me are partnering in honor of Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month to bring our community a free women & girls self defense class. This class is designed to equip and empower women with the knowledge needed to maintain their space and defend themselves if necessary. Violence against women is an unfortunate reality that pervades our world. While no victim should ever be blamed for an attack, they can be empowered! The tools you need are already at your disposal: yourself.
Join us on February 18th from 2:00-5:00pm at Park’s Martial Arts Academy. This three- hour beginner’s workshop will teach you a multitude of techniques to escape the grasp of an attacker and get away safely.
We will also share a brief lesson about social media and Internet Safety.
While the event is free, we encourage all guests to bring items that will be distributed to local shelters. Some suggestions are feminine products, clothing (if you’re donating used clothing, please make sure there are no holes, tears, stains etc.), art/school supplies, household items (paper towel, soap, tissue, etc.). Please no food items.
All participants must sign a waiver and they will be available at the event itself. Anyone under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign their waiver. If the participant is under 18 years old, they must have a parent or guardian sign their waiver as well. If the parent/guardian is present, you can sign it there but if the minor is being dropped off, they must bring a signed waiver.
Email email@example.com with any questions or if you need a waiver copy!
