Event description

Description

To kick off London Tech Week, Women of Wearables are organising another monthly meetup on June 12, and this time topic is all things fashion technology!

Using the latest technology can give a fashion brand access to unlimited possibilities when it comes to communication. Biotechnology has enabled us to come up with progressive ideas such as bioengineering using spider silk, 3D printing has affected the traditional design process, the materials, and the production of jewellery and accessories, while brands like Burberry, Alexander Wang and Ralph Lauren are using technology to further elevate the customer experience.

Speakers include our WoW women Kristina Dimitrova CEO of Interlaced, Dr Camille Baker co-founder of E-Stitches, Ishwari Thopte Fashion Tech Project Officer at Centre for Fashion Enterprise and Nancy Boehm and Lou-Anne Boehm, fashion tech designers behind the brand Twins Paris.

Join us for an evening of insipiring talks about fashion tech projects from London and Paris, and networking afterwards!

Big Thank you! goes to our sponsors Taylor Wessing for providing us with the venue and refreshments for the evening!

* While we inspire and connect women in wearable and fashion tech, we would love to see more men collaborate and support us, so you are definitely welcome! :)

ABOUT OUR SPEAKERS

Kristina Dimitrova is founder and CEO of INTERLACED. INTERLACED is a London-based media and events organisation covering the most exciting and innovative ideas in fashion and technology. They do this through their content online – interviews with fashion tech pioneers, features, event recaps – and through events and meetups offline. The idea is to bring together the four key audiences shaping the future of fashion – the startups, established companies from the fashion and tech worlds, academia (researchers and emerging designers and technologists) and the end consumer. INTERLACED’s mail goal is to facilitate a conversation between these diverse stakeholders which will shape the future of fashion.

Camille Baker is an artist-performer/researcher/curator within various art forms: participatory performance and interactive art, mobile media art, tech fashion/soft circuits/DIY electronics, responsive interfaces and environments, and new media curating. Camille co-founded E-Stitches in 2014 a meetup group in London that brings together artists, fashion and other designers, performers, makers and encouraging electronics engineers, biotechnologists, wearable DIY enthusiasts, quantified-selfies, and entrepreneurs to come along to discuss, show, share, educate and learn from each other on the current wearable tech and e-textile issues, as well as future directions in this developing area.

Ishwari Thopte is the Fashion Tech Project Officer at Centre for Fashion Enterprise in London and manages their FashTech programmes and events. With 10+ years of experience spanning various aspects within the fashion industry, Ishwari works at the confluence of fashion, technology and digital, by creating a thriving cross sector community in London and helping CFE lead the fashion tech revolution.

Nancy Boehm and Lou-Anne Boehm are duo behind TWINSPARIS, an innovation studio specialized in innovative textiles and avant-garde materials, based in Paris. While Lou-Anne focuses on a research and prototyping process to create unique smart materials designs, Nancy leads the user experience and interaction design path to conceive innovative fabrics and wearables. With a background in traditional arts & crafts for high fashion (Alexander McQueen, Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel...) as well as in new technologies, they are often invited to participate to the best known international conferences and shows in the fashion tech area. They also give Design Thinking workshops to spread methodology for creativity and user centered design. Clients and collaborators include Burning Man performers as well as l’Oréal and Dior perfume.

Sian Skelton, a partner in Taylor Wessing's Technology group, will represent TW on the panel. Sian does a lot of work on e-commerce, data privacy and other relevant areas.
