Women at Work: Stories of empowerment

Join us for an evening of art and discussion with award-winning photographer Alison Wright, BRAC USA President & CEO Donella Rapier, and Tides CEO Kriss Deiglmeier.

With the backdrop of a powerful photographic showcase, Alison Wright will talk about her travels to Liberia, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda to document the lives of people empowered by BRAC. Donella Rapier will examine trends in international development and the progress being made to achieve gender equity worldwide – as well as the challenges ahead. Kriss Deiglmeier will highlight the role of philanthropic organizations in ensuring effective programming worldwide. Last year, Tides organization made nearly $40 million in international grants to 111 countries on six continents.

Women at Work: Photography exhibition

Women are the resilient, hard-working backbones of their communities around the world. In this photography exhibition, BRAC showcases the remarkable stories of magnetic women in sub-Saharan Africa whose perseverance is often overlooked.

From South Sudan to Sierra Leone, these documentary portraits, of women and girls living in post-conflict or hard-to-reach areas, illuminate a shared determination to create better futures for their families through their creativity, ingenuity, and drive.

Drinks and opening from 5pm.

Discussion will begin at 6pm.

With additional support from the MasterCard Foundation.
