About this event
WNP History Happy Hour with Patrick Moser
History Happy Hours hosted by Western Neighborhoods Project (WNP) are now in-person!
Join Nicole Meldahl and (sometimes) Chelsea Sellin as they enjoy adult beverages while chatting with local historians, artists, longtime west side residents and other surprise guests on Wednesday evenings at The Museum at The Cliff.
On Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at 6:00pm, we invite you to the former Cliff House Restaurant at 1090 Point Lobos Avenue for complimentary refreshments and a casual discussion with author Patrick Moser. Guests will hear Patrick talk about his book, "Surf & Rescue: George Freeth and the Birth of California Beach Culture," its connection to Sutro Baths and San Francisco, and how he got interested in the subject in the first place!
Doors open at 6:00pm for check-in and the main program will begin at 6:30pm, running for approximately one hour. Afterwards, guests are free to explore our newest exhibition, "Naiad Cove," or simply hang out, mingle, and enjoy the view.
This program is free for WNP Members and $30 each non-members. If you aren't part of the WNP family already, you can fix this problem by joining WNP for the low low price of $50 a year.
Access to The Museum at The Cliff
The Museum at The Cliff is ADA accessible. Per Federal guidelines, only service animals are allowed inside The Museum.
There is ample parking available along Point Lobos Avenue in front of The Museum; in parking lots located on either side of Point Lobos Avenue near the Lands End Lookout; and in the parking lot at Ocean Beach along Great Highway.
If driving to The Museum, please do not leave anything visible in your vehicle. There are frequent car break-ins and neither we as proprietors of The Museum nor the Golden Gate National Recreation Area as our landlords are responsible for any damage to or theft of personal property.
If you are taking public transportation, please refer to the SFMTA’s list of Muni Routes & Stops in order to plan your trip.
Health and Safety
Since The Museum is in a National Park Service building on Federal land, we adhere to whatever pandemic protocols are in place at the Federal level at any given time. These sometimes differ from pandemic protocols at the state or city level. Requirements for entry may vary, from a relaxed “Masks Recommended by Not Required” to a strict “Masks and Proof of Boosted Vaccination Required” policy.
About Us
Western Neighborhoods Project (WNP) is a 501(c)3 California nonprofit that has preserved, interpreted, and shared the diverse history and culture of San Francisco’s west side since 1999. In support of this work, WNP launched the OpenSFHistory program in 2014 to digitize and make available online thousands of historical images covering all of San Francisco. And in 2021, we became stewards of the Cliff House Project, a website launched by Gary Stark and friends to chronicle all things Cliff House.
Our main offices are located in the Richmond District at 1617 Balboa Street near 17th Avenue. Follow us on Instagram (@outsidelandz / @opensfhistory), Twitter (@outsidelandz / @opensfhistory), and Facebook (Outsidelands) for all the latest news.
