THE OLD WAYS OF COOKING

Join us for an innovative cooking class that introduces participants to the rich cultural history of African and Appalachian heritage foods.

ETHONOBOTANY

Hear from two Resourceful Communities partners on projects that uplift the human-plant relationship. In this session, learn about plants used for generations in Native and African-American communities for food and medicine, and the cultural stories behind them.

AN INCLUSIVE OUTDOORS

The outdoors is for all! Come learn strategies on how to engage your whole community in outdoor activities. In addition, you will hear from groups and individuals currently leading the way in re-defining and reclaiming who the outdoors is for.

HEAL POWERED MUSIC AND MOVEMENT

This session will focus on the intersections of dance, music, heritage, and land. Through an intergenerational lens, participants will understand the connections between how music and dance heal ourselves and communities across generations and how these similarities and differences strengthen community ties to each other and the land.

USING TECH TO MOBILIZE COMMUNITY

In this fun and interactive workshop, you'll discover how to use tech to your community's advantage. Learn how to be savvy with your smartphone, use social media to boost your online presence, and increase productivity using *free* online tools! If the mention of technology has you thinking, "but we don't even have internet access!" don't disregard this workshop just yet! There will also be a space to learn how your community can get broadband access, thanks to reps from NC's Broadband Infrastructure Office."

HEAL YOURSELF

Learn how to ‘walk your talk’ when it comes to healthy eating and active living with these easy best practices. This workshop will help you learn how to promote overall healthful longevity, sustainability and resilience in your home and workplace

LOCAL FARMER CONNECTIONS

Supporting your local farmer not only strengthens your local economy, but it can also increase access to healthy food for those who need it most. In this workshop you will learn practical strategies and tips on how to connect with your local farmers. Your church can be a drop off site for produce boxes; your nonprofit can teach a cooking class using fresh ingredients; the possibilities are endless!

HEALTH COACHING

Health Coaching uses strategies to actively and safely engage individuals in health behavior change. In this workshop you will learn how to utilize helpful health coaching strategies in your day to day work with community.
