  • Join us for a holiday charity event and celebration as Without Grace releases on Amazon!

Gather with Independent Spirit Award Nominated Director Deborah Kampmeier, Actress, Writer, Producer Angela Cohen, Special Guests from NAMI and Ms. in the Biz for a screening of the Oscar Qualified Short Film Without Grace and panel discussion on Self-Care During the Holidays. Net proceeds from the event will be donated to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). Drinks provided by Breckenridge Distillery. Food courtesy of Charley Bear Productions. All attendees will receive a complimentary day pass to The Riveter workspace. Complimentary parking provided.

Based on a true story, when Grace (Angela Cohen), a young woman with multiple psychiatric diagnoses, returns home to live with her aging parents (Ann Dowd, John Doman), it threatens the sanity and lives of everyone involved. Without Grace journeys through the devastating impact of mental illness in a family and the parents' ultimate struggle to let go of their child.

PANELISTS

Deborah Kampmeier is an award-winning filmmaker. Her first feature Virgin, starring Elisabeth Moss and Robin Wright was nominated for two 2004 Independent Spirit Awards, including Best Actress for Elisabeth Moss and the John Cassavetes Award. Her second feature Hounddog, starring Dakota Fanning was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival. Deborah’s third feature, SPLit, won Best of Show at the 2016 Female Eye Film Festival and was nominated for the Independent Vision Best Film at the 2016 Sarasota Film Festival. Deborah has just wrapped production on her fourth feature TAPE, starring Isabelle Fuhrman.

Angela Cohen is an award-winning actress and filmmaker. Her film and television work includes Oscar winners Al Pacino, Paul Haggis, Barry Levinson and Emmy winner Ann Dowd. Angela founded Charley Bear Productions Inc, with a vision to affect change through art, showcasing the female perspective in front of and behind the camera. She's a Sundance New Frontier Labs finalist for he VR experience, “The Art of Saving a Life,” was handpicked by Google for their Jumpstart VR Initiative, and qualified for the 90th annual Academy Awards with her short film, "Without Grace," which sold to Shorts TV and is currently in development for series. April Mollner, Licensed Marriage and Family therapist is a nationally-recognized anti-bullying advocate and keynote speaker at psychological conferences in the country who specializes in addiction, mental health, trauma & recovery. Known for her work with transgender youth in Hollywood & leading therapy in marginalized populations with a focus on helping individuals in recovery. Life stories are sometimes saturated in trauma, her hope is to help find positive narratives that help people heal through their resilience. Her dedication to 'lived in experiences' bridges new beginnings through a journey of strengths.

Mitzi Wright has been a Board Member of NAMI West LA for over 12 years. She has been a representative to the Los Angeles County NAMI Walk committee and a walk captain for 14 years during which her team was one of the top fundraisers. She has been a generous facilitator for a Family to Family support group for over ten years.

MODERATOR: Stan Collins has worked in the suicide prevention field for over 20 years, and is a suicide prevention specialist with Each Mind Matters. He is the co-founder of the Directing Change Program and Film Contest which educates youth on the subjects of mental health and suicide prevention through the film creation process. He is a member of the American Association of Suicidology’s Messaging and Communication Team and is the Media Representative for the San Diego County Suicide Prevention Council.
