Speaker Information:

Dr. Trevor Stammers spent 27 as a doctor before a 15-year career in academia, including as Associate Professor of Bioethics and Medical Law and Director of the Centre for Bioethics and Emerging Technologies at St. Mary's University in Twickenham. He is currently the Editor of The New Bioethics journal and co-author (with Calum MacKellar) of The Ethics of Generating Posthumans.

His research interests are principally the ethics of organ transplantation and genomic editing but he has also written on conscience in medical practice and the limits of autonomy in ethical decisions in healthcare. He was Chair of the Christian Medical Fellowship 2007-2009 and a current member of the CMF Study Group on medical ethics.

Stephen Latham, JD, PhD, is the Senior Research Scientist and Director of Yale’s Interdisciplinary Center for Bioethics, a program of the Institution for Social and Policy Studies. He has published widely in health law and bioethics, with particular emphasis on the legal regulation of novel medical technologies and of human and animal research. He also has a strong interest in philosophical argumentation in bioethics. He is a former board member of the American Society for Bioethics and Humanities, which gave him its distinguished service award; and a contributing editor of the Hastings Center Report.
