About this Event

Written by Matt Geer

A new monodrama for 2020 on suicide

With Mixed Effects is a 90-minute meditative monodrama set over the final three minutes of a person killing themselves by nitrogen asphyxiation. Written in mid-2019, the piece is inspired by the composer's personal dealings with mental health. He writes:

"I didn't want to incorporate any thoughts or emotions into the dialogue specifically. The piece embodies the illness by using the body as an empty shell in which it self-destructs. Audience members are encouraged to meditate and immerse themselves into one's mindset as if they were committing suicide. The piece ends with a guided meditation."
