Come take a tour of Study Island with Shannon Tupper. Study Island is a very engaging program that allows students to take pre and post tests in multiple grade level curriculum that has immediate feedback for teachers. This can be very helpful in checking student mastery as well as for grouping students based on knowledge. Another important piece to Study Island is that students can work on it from home, you can give assignments for homework or as an extra aide for those students struggling with a concept. Study Island allows teachers to quickly differentiate assignments based on student understanding of concepts. I will walk you through how to build your class. You will learn how to give an assignment to your whole class, groups or individuals. We will take a look at the different types of assignments available as well as how to create your own assignment. Welcome to the 2013 Wiseburn Common Core

Technology Bootcamp!

This paid technology event will be an opportunity for our Wiseburn teachers and instructional aides to learn about, or explore in greater depth, the web-based applications that we presently use across the district.  These applications will play an increasingly important role as teaching and learning tools, as we work with our students in building towards 21st Century Learning and Common Core State Standards.

There are ten great workshops to choose from (each workshop from Session 1 is repeated in Session 2). Participants may sign up for a Session 1 (8:30) class and/or for a Session 2 (10:30) class, for a maximum of two classes.

Please remember to bring your laptop. (If you need to borrow a laptop for the morning, please contact Chris Jones and we will have a loaner ready for you.)We will start the morning with a sign-in and coffee at 8:15 in the Boeing PD room 201 at Dana.  After Check-in, participants will proceed to their room assignment for Session 1.  (If attending Session 2 only, please arrive at room 201 at 10:15 to sign-in.)

All participants and presenters must be sure to sign-in (and out) so that payroll may process payments (checks will go out during the first payroll cycle in October.)

Workshops Schedule:

  • Session 1:      8:30 a.m. - 10:15 am.
  • Break:           10:15 a.m. - 10:30 pm.
