Description

It is time to wrestle away the negative headlines by amplifying voices of reason. Let’s WISE Up and counter all forms of extremism, including hate.

Please Join us at a historic gathering of hundreds of religious and community leaders, scholars, academics, policymakers, lawmakers, and business leaders to launch WISE Up: Knowledge Ends Extremism at a full day Summit in Washington, DC on Thursday, October 26, 2017, at the Carnegie Institution for Science, 1530 P Street North West, Washington, DC 20005. Registration starts at 9:00 AM, with the Summit beginning promptly at 10:00 AM and ending at 5:00 PM.

October 26th will be your WISE Up day as you learn about this multi-faceted campaign aimed at preventing the spread of extremist ideology and hate crimes in America. You will see how knowledge is the most powerful tool against all forms of extremism. This day-long Summit is aimed at uniting Americans of goodwill to strengthen our national unity.

  1. The day will begin with a Press conference with brief remarks by two Congresswomen, one Republican and one Democrat. It will highlight WISE Up as an unprecedented collaborative community effort between scholars, community leaders, activists, and veterans with diverse ideologies and national origins who have developed a holistic solution to Islamophobia and extremism.
  2. The day sessions will center around the 400-page research and evidence-based book of knowledge, WISE Up, authored by over 60 noted Muslim scholars, faith leaders, public servants, and veterans who contributed their expertise to develop practical ways to combat hate crimes, Islamophobia, and terrorism.
  3. We will present WISE Up Policy Briefs aimed at Policymakers, Media, Muslim, and interfaith communities.
  4. You will hear directly from the Voices of American Muslims – their engagement in public life, the challenges they confront as American citizen, and creative ways that they deal with these obstacles.
  5. You will be surprised and inspired by 33 notable American Muslims who enrich America every day.
  6. You will finally see the missing piece of the puzzle: a clear comparison between Islamic Theology vs. Extremist Ideology and ways in which Muslims debunk distortions of Islamic terms by ISIS.
  7. You will understand the push and pull factors that motivate men and women to join extremist groups and you will learn ways to prevent extremist recruitment online.
  8. You will hear specialists explain how to strengthen families, how to rehabilitate prison inmates, how to do bystander intervention, and how to counter hate speech.
  9. You will be inspired to hear about the 40 Muslim heroes profiled in WISE Up and dozens of Muslim and interfaith initiatives promoting interfaith cooperation.
  10. You will learn how to leverage WISE Up as an engagement tool to reach out to Mayors across America and the general public through a national tour of WISE Up Town Hall Dialogues.
  11. You will access special toolkits which will enhance your skills to become effective advocates for educational outreach in your communities and with your Muslim neighbors.
