Event description

Description

Most adopted children are asked questions about being adopted, yet few are equipped to respond. Questions like: "Why don't you look like your mom?", "Where are your real parents?", and "Why did they give you away?" can leave children feeling uncomfortable and distressed. The W.I.S.E. Up! program, the Center for Adoption Support and Education's nationally and internationally acclaimed program has helped more than 20,000 children with their feelings about being adopted while responding to others' questions, comments and curiosities. The easy-to-learn W.I.S.E. Up! tool teaches children (grades 1-6) that they have the power to choose if, when, and how to share personal information.

Join Formed Families Forward and CASE, the Center for Adoption Support and Education, for our next Loudoun Connect Session to learn more about the principles behind the W.I.S.E. Up! program. This FREE program will be held on Monday, November 26, from 5:45pm-8:00pm at The Arc of Loudoun Paxton Campus in the ALLY Center. Families will enjoy light refreshments together, before separating into sessions specifically designed for the children, and parents and caregivers. Please visit www.formedfamiliesforward.org or www.adoptionsupport.org for further information.
