Event Details

The Induction Ceremony will be in The Atrium at SentryWorld in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. The public is invited to attend.


SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

9:00 am - Reception (free): registration, coffee, socializing

10:00 am - Ceremony (free): inductee tributes & presentation of plaques to be permanently displayed in the WCHF Hall of Fame Gallery in the Visitor Center at Schmeeckle Reserve.

1:00 pm - Luncheon buffet ($28): purchase ticket by April 10th
Little Italy Buffet includes Meatballs Marinara, Chicken Alfredo, Penne Pasta, Caesar Salad, Garlic Bread, Tiramisu  and coffee/tea. Vegetarian and gluten free meal options available. A wine and beer cash bar is available. Seating includes round-table settings for 10 guests.

THE 2020 WCHF INDUCTEES

Stephen Born   |   Jens Jensen   |   Stanley Temple


Stephen Born – a well-known UW-Madison professor who specialized in environmental planning and worked on almost every aspect of water management, the Great Lakes, inland lakes, groundwater, rivers and watersheds, in addition to loving all things trout.

Jens Jensen – a landscape architect of the Upper Midwest who developed public parks, preserves, and private estates, focusing on indigenous plants and the location’s ecological features, who also founded the “school of the soil” in Door County known as The Clearing.

Stanley Temple – a UW-Madison professor who studied endangered birds, habitat fragmentation, invasive species and other factors leading to species declines, and now serves as a Senior Fellow with the Aldo Leopold Foundation, researching, writing and speaking about Aldo Leopold.

Wisconsin Conservation Hall of Fame (WCHF)

The Wisconsin Conservation Hall of Fame (WCHF) is located in the Schmeeckle Reserve Visitor Center at 2419 North Point Drive in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Established in 1985 to advance the conservation legacy of Wisconsin, WCHF now recognizes over 100 leaders who have contributed significantly to the advancement of conservation in Wisconsin and the nation.

 

The WCHF/Schmeeckle Visitor Center includes a Wisconsin Convservation History Museum, Hall of Fame Gallery, Gift Shop, bird viewing area and meeting/classroom. Each year thousands of visitors also enjoy the beautiful landscapes, hiking trails, educational programs and gift shop at Schmeeckle Reserve.

 

WCHF is a cooperative venture of more than 30 state-wide conservation organizations. As a non-profit organization, we depend on the generous support of our member organizations, individual members, grants and donations.

 

Individuals may be nominated for induction by member organizations or by the public. Based on a set of criteria, nominees are selected for induction by the WCHF Board of Directors and an independent Board of Governors.
