Event description

Description

This drop-in series is for experienced improvisors who want to hit the stage running and excel at building momentum one beat at a time. We’ll warm up as a group, drill new and classic two-person exercises, and then turn to scene work. Topics to be covered include scene starts and edits, pivotal moments and reveals, affective commitment and contagion, and finding the love in every scene. At times, it may feel more like an acting class than an improv workshop. No matter what, we'll keep things fun and moving and give ourselves a good stretch. Students and teacher alike will opt for candor, humor and well-being. Everyone will leave with a fuller command of rich scene work and more energy than they had when they arrived.

FAQs

Are there prerequisites for this class?

This drop-in series is aimed at experienced improvisors. It is expected that students will have three years’ experience as an improvisor or will have completed a course of study at an improv theatre or institution. Students should be familiar with improv lingo, be able to recite by heart bits of improv wisdom, know what it means to thrive in an ensemble and what it feels like to perform in front of an audience.
