Clem Miller Education Center

Named for Clement Woodnutt Miller, the United States Representative who authored the legislation to establish Point Reyes National Seashore, the Clem Miller Environmental Education Center is located in a secluded valley in the Phillip Burton Wilderness just two miles from Limantour Beach. The Center accommodates up to 86 overnight guests in five spacious dormitory-style cabins furnished with wooden bunkbeds and mattresses. The cabins are solidly built of pine and have an open-beam design and ample skylights but no electricity or running water. Bed linens are not provided; each guest brings their own warm sleeping bag and pillow. Facilities include a large cedar lodge with dining room, library science center and commercial kitchen. Groups provide their own meals; food service is not available. The site also includes a bathhouse with private, solar-heated hot showers, a large central meadow, a campfire center and immediate access to hiking trails.

The Center is designed as a model of ecological sustainability with composting and recycling systems, solar-heated water and photovoltaic modules providing electricity.

There is no internet or mobile phone service, offering everyone a welcome respite from the fast-paced world.

What to Bring
- Warm, variable-weather, layered clothing including: windbreaker, gloves, warm hat
- Hat and sun screen.
- Comfortable walking shoes
- WARM sleeping bag and pillow (linens not provided for bunkbeds, mattress only)
- Extra sleeping pad for comfort (optional, but the provided mattress is fairly thin)
- Ear plugs (in case of snorers)
- Personal toiletries (shampoo, soap, bath towel, etc.)
- Insect repellant
- Flashlight or headlamp

Food
A full service kitchen is provided. Please bring all meals and snacks. The nearest stores and restaurants are 20 miles away over country roads, so you will need to be self-sufficient. By tradition, Saturday night is pot-luck with everyone sharing food. So be sure to bring a dish to share for Saturday dinner, as well as food for yourself.
