Event description

Description

A four-session intensive evening class to create unique sculptures or vessels for your home or garden using both hand-building techniques and the potter’s wheel. Decorate with earthy or bright ceramic colors and glazes for a high temperature firing that will stand the test of time and weather. Resident artist Bruce Barry will introduce you to the pinch, coil, slab, and wheel methods you need for this hybrid project, suitable for any skill level in clay. Work will be fired to high temperature as completed or immediately following the course, and be ready for your garden or home this spring and beyond!

No ceramic experience necessary, all levels are welcome.

For ages 16+.

For additional Ceramics Sculpture Studio offerings, visit.

Resident artist Bruce Barry is a studio arts graduate from Bates College with advanced coursework in ceramics, etching, drawing, and painting. Barry’s teaching style encourages individual experimentation and personal growth and exposes students to contemporary art and ceramics practice. His work consists of organic, vessel-like ceramic pieces with painted-on writings declared as journal entries. A finalist for the Massachusetts Cultural Council Crafts Grant in 2007, Barry has taught at deCordova since 1997.
