Description

Winter is wonderful at QBG! Bring the whole family and experience winter’s splendor with indoor garden activities and an outdoor nature walk. Please dress for the weather. Recommended for 4 to 10-year-olds, but all are welcome to attend.

Ticket includes one child. Please purchase separate tickets for each child. This is not a drop-off program. Drop-ins welcome upon availability.

Sign up for a single session or all four for a discounted package of $40 per child. Bring the whole family and experience winter’s splendor with indoor garden activities and an outdoor nature walk.

Plants We Eat! - Saturday, January 12, 11am to 12pm
Learn all about different plant parts, identify their functions, and discover which of these parts we eat. We'll visit the Greenhouse to see edible plants and make hummus for dipping veggies as a healthy snack! Please dress for the weather.

Bugging Out! - Saturday, January 19, 11am to 12pm
Bugs are all around us! Come explore the world of bugs by examining the parts of a squirmy earthworm, building your own insect, and looking for bug homes in the Woodland Garden. Please dress for the weather.

Winter Trees - Saturday, January 26, 11am to 12pm
Kids will learn about the various parts of trees, their functions, and will use parts of trees to make a craft for take home! Program concludes with a walk through the Pinetum. Please dress for the weather.

Tabletop Gardening - Saturday, February 2, 11am to 12pm
You can garden in the winter too! Participants will get to learn about all the different way to grow plants and even plant a few to take home! Class concludes with a visit to the Greenhouse.

TIP:

Spend the day at the Garden! From 12 to 1pm on each day of Winter Family Programs, join us for a community art project celebrating Lunar New Year! Drop in to work on collaborative sculptures to celebrate the Year of the Pig. The project will be displayed in the Garden for QBG’s Lunar New Year Celebration on Saturday, February 9 and for the remainder of February. Please note: this family-friendly activity involves papier maché and paint.

Tickets are non-refundable, except in the event of a cancellation by the organizer.
