Winter is wonderful at QBG! Experience winter’s splendor with outdoor garden activities and a nature walk. This program is recommended for 4 to 12-year-olds.
This is a fully outdoor, socially distanced program. Please dress for all weather. Masks are required for the full duration of this event.
Ticket includes one child with one adult. This is NOT a drop-off program. Adults should plan to participate with children.
One single session can be redeemed with your Urban Advantage voucher.

You MUST be able to present a digital or paper copy of your voucher while onsite on the day of the program.

Winter Trees - Saturday, December 11, 2 to 3pm
Kids learn about the various parts of trees and their functions, and use parts of trees to make a craft to take home! Program includes a walk through the Pinetum. Please dress for the weather.
Making Scents of Herbs - Saturday, January 8, 2 to 3pm
Herbs create fragrances and flavors that we use in food, cosmetics, and medicines. Learn about different plant parts, identify their functions, and discover which of them we use every day! We'll visit the Herb Garden to see edible plants and make our own tea bag blends to take home! Please dress for the weather.
Celebrating Black Botanists & the Legacy of Dr. George Washington Carver - Saturday, February 12, 2 to 3pm
Learn how plants played an important role in the lives of Dr. Carver, Dr. Marie Clark Taylor, Edmond Albius, and Percy Gentle. We'll explore some plants Dr. Carver worked with, using plants to paint and to create a lotion to take home. Please dress for the weather.
Bugging Out! - Saturday, March 12, 2 to 3pm
Bugs are all around us! But where do they go in the wintertime? Come explore the world of bugs by examining the parts of a live insect, building your own clay creepy crawly, and searching for bug homes in the garden. Please dress for the weather.
Kitchen Gardening - Saturday, March 26, 2 to 3pm
You can garden in the winter too! Participants learn about all the different ways to grow plants and even plant a few to take home! Class includes a sneak preview of the Children's Garden seedlings in preparation for the spring. Please dress for the weather.
HEALTH & SAFETY
Although the event is outdoors, part of the program is taking place in an enclosed area with limited space. Mask-wearing is required to enter the Children's Garden and to participate in this program. While exploring the garden independently from this program, you are not required to wear masks while social distancing from other guests. Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring this event is safe for everyone!

Tickets are non-refundable, except in the event of a cancellation by the organizer.
