Description

Join The Data Incubator for an instructor-led online class that teaches the foundations of data science. This part-time course is geared towards giving working professionals with no previous data science experience an immersive, hands-on experience with foundational data science techniques.

Classes will be held from 6:30 - 9:30 PM ET (3:30 - 6:30 PM PT) on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Classes will be held on the following 16 days: 1/22, 1/24, 1/29, 1/31, 2/5, 2/7, 2/12, 2/14, 2/19, 2/21, 2/26, 2/28, 3/5, 3/7, 3/12, 3/14.

The deadline to register is 11:59 PM ET on 1/11/19.



Course Content


Prerequisites:

  • Elementary programming knowledge

  • Familiarity with statistics


This course is for you if:

  • You are interested in the field of data science and want to learn essential data science skills

  • You are new to Python or are self-taught and you’re looking for a more robust, structured learning program

  • You’re a Data Analyst, Economist, or Researcher who works with large datasets and wants to make analysis easier and more effective with Python and SQL

  • You’re a Software or Data Engineer interested in learning the fundamentals of quantitative analysis

  • You’re interested in applying to TDI’s Data Science Fellowship


Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Extract, clean, and analyze data using Python

  • Leverage Python’s powerful libraries to build predictive models to make better decisions

  • Understand relational databases and utilize SQL to query and maintain databases

  • Help your employer solve business problems using data-driven insights

About the Instructor:

Don Bruce Fox is your instructor for the Data Science Foundations course. Don has an undergraduate degree from MIT and a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University, where his research focused on renewable energy systems. Prior to joining The Data Incubator, Don developed numerical models for a geothermal energy startup company. As our Data Science Instructor, Don runs TDI's Boston Fellowship and leads corporate trainings with our hiring partners.
