About this event
The GSSA is so excited to provide you with an opportunity to try out more ethical, affordable, and sustainable fashion practices. In light of textile waste's dramatic increase in proportion with the production and consumption of fast fashion, we've decided to take a small step in becoming more conscious of clothing and accessories' life cycle. Besides, sharing feels pretty good too!
Why decide to swap rather than shop? For starters, you reduce waste, take part in the circular economy, save money, and get to contribute to your community while updating your wardrobe. Anyone is welcome, including children and guests outside the department!
We will be accepting all kinds of clothing (including activewear and swimwear, but excluding intimates), accessories, and shoes for all genders and ages provided they're in good condition. Because of the time of year, bringing cold-weather gear is encouraged but not at all required. That said, branded items such as merchandise from specific corporate and sporting events doesn't typically garner much interest, so it might be best to leave it at home.
Another important reminder is to please try to limit your contributions to ten items. While we are excited to swap and donate remaining clothing to those in need, we are not a dumping ground for unwanted clothing.
All funds raised will be put toward other events and services provided by the GSSA. We look forward to seeing students, staff, faculty, and others! Happy swapping :)
