About this event
We are very excited to resume our beer dinners in our tap room! This is a tour of food and beer, mingled with the history of Coney Island, and the history of beer and how it helped shape civilization as we know it. Travelling through the ages with food inspired by the indigenous peoples and the wild rabbits that inhabited the Island, the evening is foodie's dream! Seasoned beer lovers and novices will be enthralled by the food and beer parings curated to tantalize and excite the senses.
Upon arrival, guests will begin their tour with a pint of our Mermaid Pilsner, while given the chance to mingle and snack on our seasonal grazing table. The Chef will give a brief talk about the inspiration for the evening's menu and how it intertwines with history.
Our first plated course pays homage to the agricultural significance of the "Three Sisters": squash, maize (corn), and pole beans. Roasted Delicata squash, corn pudding, and Cranberry beans braised in apple cider will be served with a beer pairing of our Merman IPA, juxtaposed with our Nathan's Lager.
Our next course is pot pie, which offers a vegetarian option, of mushrooms, chestnuts and sage in a porridge of spent grain, or rabbit, chestnuts and sage, both served with a baby kale salad with persimmon, pomegranate and our special house fermented mustard-cider vinaigrette. The pairing here will be our End of Day ESB juxtaposed with our Le Mon de Plum.
Finally, we will have , poached apples with a salted caramel crème fraiche, and a spent grain brittle served with our Belgian Trippel, Elephantine Colossus.
Each course will be paired with beers chosen to highlight and enhance the flavors of the beer itself, as well as the food it is paired with.
