Event description

Description

The UChicago Graduate Student and Postdoc Innovation Mixer is an opportunity for graduate students and postdocs cross the University of Chicago to experience the Polsky Exchange, meet one-another, and spark inter-disciplinary collaborations. This will be a great opportunity to meet other like-minded individuals and even find new teammates for any research project or business idea you're working on.

The Mixer will kick-off with registration and welcoming remarks from John Colson, a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Nealey and Tirrell Research Groups at the Institute for Molecular Engineering, and Project Manager of ClostraBio, Inc, which is developing treatment for food allergies and other diseases of the immune system through microbiome-modulating therapeutics.

This will be followed by timed, structured networking around different industry areas. Delicious, hot crepes and drinks will be served.

The program is sponsored by the Polsky Exchange in partnership with UChicagoGRAD and several student groups from around campus. These groups seek to bridge divides across the campus and provide graduate students with the opportunity to meet one-another and support innovative startups and research.

Note: Applications for the NSF-funded Polsky I-Corps program are due on Feb 9, so this is a great way to potentially meet new people to fill out your I-Corps team before the deadline! All STEM business ideas are welcome.

Agenda:
5:00 pm: Registration and reception
5:30 pm: Structured networking
6:30 pm: General networking & Wrap-up
