Event description

Description

Too often in our social justice movements, we find ourselves making decisions that drain and paralyze us. How do we choose what issues to work on? How do we live in a life-denying world while still affirming our own lives? When should we be firm and unyielding in our work, and when should we be flexible and open to compromise? Winning the Bind, the second CPI workshop centered on mobilization, will discuss self-care and decision making through the lens of Historical European Martial Arts. Martial Arts and spiritual practice have gone hand-in-hand for millennia, and they still have much to teach us today. Join us for an afternoon of swords and spirituality!

This workshop is led by Tony Williams: Tony Williams is a thinker, writer, and organizer living at the intersection of art and action. First coming to movement work through the Unity 4 movement for social justice on Santa Clara University's campus, he has since contributed to conversations on gender justice, workers' rights, and police abolition. He lives and works in Minneapolis.
