Description

Join the Center for New York City Affairs to recognize the winners of the Prized Solutions: Reimagining NYC competition. This competition identified exemplary research and ideas from New School students that focused on issues impacting New York City. Each of the winners will present their work during a lively discussion with experts from the field.

The following are the winning projects that will be presented at the showcase:

  • Kobi Loehr, Milano/ Urban Policy Analysis and Management, Family Shelters in NYC: Mapping how the City shelter status quo adds to the stresses of homelessness - In conversation with Suzi Epstein, Managing Director, The Robin Hood Foundation

  • Lauren Atkins, Noa Bartfeld and Haijing Zhang, MFA Transdisciplinary Design, Stories on Air: Enlisting satellite technology to battle for environmental justice - In conversation with Ana Baptista, Chair, Milano's Environmental Policy and Sustainability Management Program, The New School


  • Johanna Case, Basil V Soper, Bachelor’s Program for Adults and Transfer Students, Transilient: Candid, perceptive portraits of transgendered/ gender non-conforming Americans - In conversation with Nina Berman, Associate Professor of Photojournalism, Columbia University

  • Lyric Kelkar, Eduarda Aun and Zara Farooq, Parsons/ M.S. in Design and Urban Ecologies, Sunset Park Connect: Reducing school overcrowding by engaging with the neighborhood - In conversation with Nicole Rodriguez Leach, Head of Education and Vice President, Deutsche Bank


  • Marriele Robinson, Milano/ Environmental Policy and Sustainability Management, Biodiesel and NYC: Acting locally – and creatively – to attack global climate change - In conversation with Charles H Allison, Jr, Associate Professor of Professional Practice, and Chair, Management, Leadership, and Entreprenuership in the Bachelors Program for Adults and Transfer Students (BPATS)
