Event description

Description

Every autumn thousands of sea ducks and other waterbirds migrate south along the Massachusetts coast on their way to their wintering grounds. On favorable days it is often possible to see thousands of these maritime travelers from appropriate headlands along the shore.

Join avid birder and Wildlands Trust board member Wayne Petersen for a waterfowl field trip around Plymouth. Participants in this outing will receive an overview of the migratory routes and destinations of these birds, along with a description of the factors that influence their migratory behavior. In addition to providing an exhilarating day afield at a lovely time of year, this outing will offer insights into observing, identifying, and better understanding migratory waterbird behavior in Massachusetts.

Meet at the Wildlands Trust headquarters for an introduction to the day in the Community Conservation Barn, then we'll head out into the field (in as few cars as possible).
