Join us at Cafe Degas for this special 5 course Champagne pairing dinner featuring the wines of Tribaut Schloesser, a family owned and operated winery in the heart of Champagne. National importer Jack Jelenko will take us through the range of 5 champagnes, which will include the rare Tête de Cuvee 2008 Authentique.
Located in the village of Romery, a few kilometers away from the capital of Champagne, Epernay, the House Tribaut-Schloesser began in 1929 from the union of Jean Tribaut with Suzanne Schloesser, each coming from wine grower families. Both are now nearly 80 and leave it to their son Jean-Marie, and their grandsons, to perpetuate the quality of the Champagnes they created. Jean-Marie Tribaut closely looks after the 85 hectares of vines planted over the three villages of Romery, Cormoyeux and Fleury-la-Rivière, while grandson Sebastien oversees the cellar and grandson Valentin oversees the vineyards.
For 30 years now, Cafe Degas has been New Orleans' most Gallic and longest running French Bistro. Set under the oaks and cypress trees of Esplanade Avenue near City Park, it offers a truly unique and intimate dining experience. Co-owners Jacques Soulas and Jerry Edgar along with Chef Laurent Rochereux serve classic French dishes accompanied by creative nightly specials and complimented by a French and American wine list. Tonight's menu was specifically designed to pair with the Champagnes by Tribaut Schloesser.
Neighboring Swirl Wine Bar & Market is always looking for ways to bring great wine, food and people together and the planning of tonight's event happened over many delicious glasses of Tribaut Schloesser Champagne. Thanks to Jack Jelenko of Partners Wine Group and Purveyor of Fine Wines for bringing these fantastic new wines to the market.
Five Champagnes, five courses, $100, tax and tip included. The retail cost of these wines range from $50 to $120 per bottle but special discounted pricing will be available for this event should you want to purchase anything. We hope you will join us on December 8th for this wonderful celebration of French wine and food with New Orleans style!
