Description

Join us for a delightful evening with Reggie Hammond, a former winemaker in California. Many things can happen before that bottle of wine hits the store shelf and Reggie will share with you some of the adventures and mishaps he has experienced over the years!

After spending almost a decade in the aeronautics industry, Hammond’s love of wine and wine production led him to contact Doug Meador, original Ventana Vineyard founder, in 1996. The timing was right, as Meador was looking for the right person to continue his work at Ventana Vineyards. According to Meador, “I was looking for a someone with a management background, but more importantly, that person had to have the “fire” for the wine business. Reggie has more than filled the position. He’s really taken flight.”

Reggie remained the winemaker for Ventana until 2010, when he decided to start his own label, Hammond Vineyards, concentrating on Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Rhone varietals. In January of 2012, Reggie was given the opportunity to become a winemaker for Chalone Vineyard. With all the history that Chalone has in Monterey County, it was a quick and easy decision to make the move. That led to several other wine making positions within the Diageo portfolio. From there he went on to become the winemaker for A by Acacia, Monterey Vineyards, Dynamite and finally Chateau St. Jean Coastal. After moving to Boise in late 2017, Reggie joined the Boise Co-op Wine Shop in August of 2018.

In his personal time, Reggie enjoys golf, hiking and cooking.

This class will include a tasting of some of Reggie’s favorite wines and small bites from the Co-op kitchen.
