Event description

Description

On Sunday, May 5th, 2019 at 4pm, Windsong Chamber Choir will present a concert featuring the works of beloved Anglican composer Ralph Vaughan Williams. Vaughan Williams's vocal music is inspired by his lifelong belief that the voice "can be made the medium of the best and deepest human emotion." Windsong will present several smaller works, such as the Te Deum and an arrangement of Loch Lomond. The first part of the concert will feature both organ accompanied and unaccompanied works. The second part of the concert will feature the intimate and transparent Mass in G minor. This work, though well-known, is seldom performed because of its exposed and difficult nature. Written for double choir and a quartet of soloists, Windsong approaches the work as a chamber piece, giving it an even more intimate quality. The mass will feature Windsong members: Caroline Humphries (Soprano), Auvrey Dillon (Alto), Robert Duran (Tenor), and Kirby Allen (Bass) as the quartet soloists.

Windsong has partnered with Casady School to present this concert in their Chapel of St. Edward the Confessor. Richard Jobe, Casady's faculty organist, will be featured on the chapel organ.

Students under 18 or with ID receive free admission.
