Windows of the World Artist Talk
Overview
Windows of the World Artist Talk
In this artist talk and presentation, Laura will share the ideas and evolution behind her exhibition Windows of the World—a body of work exploring culture, identity, and the perspectives that shape how we see.
Through personal stories and a look at her artistic process, Laura will discuss how her bicultural background informs her abstract compositions, which balance structure and spontaneity, geometry and gesture. Guests are invited to engage in dialogue, ask questions, and gain a deeper understanding of how her paintings serve as windows into layered experiences of belonging and place.
The talk will be located in The Julia C. Butridge Gallery at the Dougherty Arts Center, a beloved multi-cultural community staple in Austin providing opportunities for creative expression for over 41 years. The art center features artists and arts organizations in exhibitions that include all mediums and address diverse subject matters, contributing to the gallery’s longstanding reputation among the arts community as an accessible and nurturing venue and incubator, ideal for emerging and established artists.
Free and open to the public.
