Event Details

Come and learn about Windows 8 and the developer opportunity it represents. Technical sessions by several experts will cover the Windows Store, development tools, libraries, and monetization. Lucky winners will walk away with some nice swag as well!

Here are some of the sessions that will be presented, check back for updates!

Windows Store App Product Development

With the release of several new Windows Platforms, it can be both exciting and overwhelming to get an app from an idea to the Windows Store. In this talk we'll look at some design strategies as well as some common user experience scenarios and patterns that can help with the process of developing your app.

Developing Windows Store apps using XAML

This session will give an introduction to Windows Store app development using C# and XAML. We’ll look at project structure and how to leverage the project templates and sample data to quickly create data-driven apps.

Creating Casual Games for the Windows Store

In this session we will learn about the different languages and frameworks we can use to create casual games for the Windows Store. The presenter will use a real-world app, one of the first on the Windows 8 store, to demonstrate techniques of leveraging the new platform for casual games.

Developing Windows 8 Games with DirectX

While Microsoft has released higher level APIs for creating games in recent years, DirectX & C++ remains the technology of choice for creating high performance games on Windows, XBox, and now even Windows Phone.  This introductory session will  demonstrate Windows 8 DirectX game samples and cover the basics of developing DirectX games for Windows 8 including the integration of XAML interop.

Monetizing Windows Store Apps

With the Windows 8 launch, there has never been a better time for developers to create apps  and earn money from them.  This session will discuss existing options for monetizing Windows Store apps and will present AdStreamer's real-world mobile advertising SDK that's currently in development and will be released for Windows Store apps in 2013.
